Thank you, our priests

kapl1 This Sunday is the World Priest Day. It is an outgrowth of World Marriage Day – and there is a powerful link between the two vocations. Both involve a lifetime of commitment, and sacrifice, and an unshakable love. One involves a love for a spouse. The other, a love for God and His Church. And a love, too, for His people. So this Sunday, we want to thank our priests for that gift of self, that offering of love. Thank you for morning mass and afternoon confessions and unexpected calls that brought you to the bedside of someone at the last moment of earthly life. Thank you for the countless times you have offered us the Body of Christ, blessed and broken — so that we too, though broken, may be blessed. Thank you for laying down your lives – and for being a bridge between us and God.

55 years of priesthood

Our sincerest wishes go to Fr. Joseph Szpilski CM on the 55th Anniversary of his Ordination.  We wish him good health, an abundance of God’s blessings, perpetual inner spiritual peace, which he has had until now and all the best.  We thank God for Your vocation, Fr. Joe.

We thank God for June 24, 1956 when Fr. Joe and 30 deacons in the Congregation of the Mission  lying face down during the Litany to All Saints made the final decision to be ordained into the priesthood on that day.  He became an Apostle of Christ, Missionary, in Poland at first, and later on American soil he preached the Good News of Salvation and served God and people.
Happy Anniversary, Fr. Joe!

Holy Thursday Mass…

During the Holy Mass offered by all the priests of our parish as well as Fr. Joseph Lachowski CM, former assistant at St. Stans, presently resident at Ozanam Hall in Queens, on Holy Thursday at 7 PM we celebrated three anniversaries: 1) the anniversary of the first Holy Mass, 2) the anniversary of the institution of ministerial priesthood to perpetuate the Holy Mass, to convey God’s forgiveness to repentant sinners and to preach the good news of salvation, 3) the anniversary of Jesus’ promulgation of Jesus’ new commandment of love: “Love one another as I have loved you.” Today we remembered how Jesus transformed the Jewish Passover into the New Testament Passover. Holy Thursday

Today, as we begin the sacred Paschal Triduum,  we give thanks to God for two great sacraments established by Jesus Christ to help us live our lives in holiness and perfection – the Eucharist and Priesthood.

The night before Pope John Paul II’s funeral, Rome was filled with an estimated 5 million pilgrims who had come for the funeral Mass. Wherever they were gathered, all over the city, the whole night through, you could see priests hearing confessions in makeshift, outdoor confessionals, with signs around their necks or hanging from their chairs listing the languages they spoke. Father Edmund Gutowski CM – 50th anniversary of priesthood

50 years ago our parish bulletin Patron had printed those two articles on Fr. Ed:

FATHER  EDMUND GUTOWSKI, C. M .
The many years of expectations have drawn to a close. This was perhaps one of the many thoughts of Father Edmund Gutowski, C. M., one of our parishioners on Ascension Thursday. Why? Because on that May 26 he had stepped out of the chapel at Mary Immaculate Seminary, Northampton, Pa., “a priest forever, according to the order of Melchisedech.” Yes, a day of joy and expectation not only for his family and friends but also for us parishioners who have come to know and await this same expectation – the ordination to Christ’s Holy Priesthood. And we should indeed be proud of this fact that another member of the parish has received the Holy Sacrament of Holy Orders. Ksiądz Edmund Gutowski CM – 50 rocznica święceń kapłańskich

50 lat temu w parafialnej gazetce Św. Stanisława Kostki na Greenpoincie, ukazał sie następujący artykuł:

Nareszcie!
