NYC MASS MOB

Michael Cadigan, a student at the Catholic Newman Center at Queens College, has started a movement called NYC Mass Mob with the goal of helping struggling churches regain members. Each month, he will produce a list of the four poorest Catholic churches in New York City and the public can vote on them. The winning church will receive a visit from the Mass Mob, a large group of supporters who will attend mass at the church in hopes of bringing attention to the institution. “It’s a good way to show off churches that need a boost,” he said. “It raises money and awareness and inspires people to go back to their faith.”  Mob already has more than 100 supporters. When he is ready to launch the voting, those interested in participating can visit nycmassmob.com to cast their ballots.

Cadigan said he is hoping the movement grows in size and popularity as it continues and plans to visit one church every month, starting with smaller ones and working up to the larger churches in the city.  “Hopefully, it makes people interested in going to church again.”

Say “Merry Christmas” today

Every Christmas, the media and PC police tell us, the Christian majority, what we can do and say to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. If you’ve had “enough” of this biased propaganda and believe in the true meaning of Christmas…now’s your chance to fight back and bring Christ back into Christmas.  As you know, Christmas is being twisted and turned, pushed and pulled by politically correct merchants who enjoy the ride on the Christmas sleigh…but won’t give Christ the recognition and honor he deserves. So, let’s challenge these stores with our wallets…and patronize only the stores that celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Cohabitating Couples

Pastoral Letter of the Archbishop of Santa Fe, USA, about Cohabitating Couples…  “We are all painfully aware that there are many Catholics today who are living in cohabitation. The Church must make it clear to the faithful that these unions are not in accord with the Gospel, and to help Catholics who find themselves in these situations to do whatever they must do to make their lives pleasing to God”…   Read this important letter in the pdf file…

Sacred Heart of Jesus and the 9 First Fridays

Why do we encourage to celebrate First Friday in such a special way???     St Margaret Mary Alacoque asks us for a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, because through the Sacred Heart of Jesus devotion we are reminded about Jesus’ perfect love for mankind.  St Margaret Mary Alacoque had received special apparitions concerning devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The first apparition took place on 27 December, the feast of Saint John the Evangelist, probably in 1673, while Margaret Mary was a nun in the Visitation convent at Paray-le-Monial.

Peregrination of the icon of the Divine Mercy

As we celebrate the 115th Anniversary of our Parish, we also anxiously await the beatification of Pope John Paul II during this same year.  The beatification should arouse within us a feeling of sincere gratitude and spiritually renewal as a contemporary will be raised to sainthood. May the peregrinations of the icon of the Divine Mercy to the homes of our parishioners, which started on Sunday, February 13th, embody our efforts to prepare for this momentous occasion.

The Catholic Church has officially recognized the life of Karol Wojtyla, namely Pope John Paul II, as a life replete with the virtues that God has deemed essential for sainthood. Consequently, the Parish of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Brooklyn   Continue reading Peregrination of the icon of the Divine Mercy

Advent and Christmas 2010 Calendar of Activities

Our Bishop, the Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, in his Pastoral Letter entitled “The New Evangelization in Brooklyn and Queens” (October 3, 2004) tells us,

Re-evangelization is the revitalized proclamation of the Gospel as a lived experience in the concrete events of daily life for those already baptized and active in the Church.  It is the encounter with Christ offered in the New Evangelization that gives us an opportunity to transform our own personal relationships with Christ.  Continue reading Advent and Christmas 2010 Calendar of Activities
