Jadzia honored…

On Sunday, November 7, 2010, the 21st Annual Red and White Ball was held at the Polonaise Terrace on Greenpoint Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.  The event was organized by the Metro New York District Alumni Association of the Orchard Lake Schools in Michigan.  Included in the Orchard Lake Schools is a Polish Seminary which supports Catholic Institutions.  Each year at the Ball, the Rector of the Schools bestows an honorary title on individuals who exemplify the goals of the Schools in their lives through service to God, country and Polonia.  This year the honorary title from the hands of Father Timothy Whalen, Chancellor of Orchard Lake Schools, was presented to : Romuald Magda, Witold Krzywda, Jadwiga McEvoy, Danuta Siemińska who  represented Atlas Bank. The Special Fr. Dabrowski Award named for the founder of the Schools was bestowed upon St. Josaphat’s Parish in Bayside, NY.  We were also honored with the presence of His Excellency, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, Ordinary of the Brooklyn & Queens Diocese who congratulated those recognized at the Ball and encouraged them to continue their efforts in the name of Christ and offered a prayer of Benediction.

Our secretary, Mrs. Jadzia McEvoy, was honored for her commitment to the Parish and Catholic community of St. Stanislaus Kostka. She carries out her work at the rectory conscientiously and admirably performs her assigned and ad hoc responsibilities above and beyond what is expected of her role as the parish secretary. Jadzia’s efforts are a significant contribution to the development and functioning of the parish, as stated by Fr. Canon Thomas Machalski, Master of Ceremonies.  Jadzia has been a valuable contributor to Diocesan events, working alongside many of the Polish priests of the Apostolate in the Diocese of Brooklyn. Her proficiency in the English and Polish languages helps mitigate any potential complications that are introduced to the parish or the Apostolate by various state regulations and municipal officials. Consequently, she accomplishes her tasks with grace and patience despite being constantly bombarded with a high volume of requests from priests, parishioners and guests.  Thanks to Jadzia the efficient operation of the rectory benefits all who enter its doors.

More importantly, Jadzia is a devout Catholic who serves as a good role model for her friends, family and all parishioners.  Talents are God-given and, consequently, Jadzia aspires to fully utilize them for the glory of God and the good of His Church. We wholeheartedly congratulate Jadzia and wish her all of God’s abundant graces for her selfless labors.
