We pray for the Veterans…

Dear Lord, listen to our prayers as we honor our veterans, brave men and women who were not afraid to give their best when served and protected their country. We pray that you will bless them, Lord, for their service to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s heritage, for all of us.    Bless them abundantly for the sacrifices they made and for their efforts to America’s victories over tyranny and oppression. We respect them and we thank them. Today we honor them and we pray that you will watch over them and bless them with your blessings, graces and happiness. May the protection of the Blessed Mother be always upon them. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen. Continue reading We pray for the Veterans…

Our Parish Café …

Our Parish Café, located in the School Annex on Driggs Ave., is officially open for business. On Saturday night, November 6, the café had its modestly attended opening. At 7:00 PM Father Jaroslaw celebrated a Mass for the volunteers who worked on the renovation as well as those who contributed their talents and financial support to make the café a reality. After Mass the volunteers themselves prepared a small reception at the café in honor of the grand opening. Father Pastor expressed his sincere appreciation and delight at the fruitful completion of the project which took weeks to complete owing to the tireless efforts of the small dedicated group of volunteers. Subsequently, Father Jaroslaw said a prayer and blessed the café. Continue reading Our Parish Café …

Petition

As the media are engaging in Holocaust revisionism by using phrases such as “Polish concentration camps” and “Polish death camps,” The Kosciuszko Foundation has posted this petition on it’s web site demanding that the media stop using these libelous phrases. News outlets that use these defamatory phrases are teaching a new generation of impressionable newspaper readers that the Holocaust was carried out by Poles rather than Nazi Germany.  Continue reading Petition

St. Gianna, a patron for infertile couples

Giving Witness  –  St. Gianna, a patron for infertile couples, honored in Manhattan.

One of the Church’s newer canonized saints was honored in Manhattan this week, with an unusual twist. Among those paying tribute to her was her son.
St. Gianna Beretta Molla may be the first saint ever canonized while her children are still alive. She spent her life in her native Italy as a physician, wife and mother. In 1962, pregnant with her fourth child, she developed a uterine tumor. She refused to have an abortion or hysterectomy, and insisted that if a choice had to be made between herself and the baby, doctors were to save the baby.  Continue reading St. Gianna, a patron for infertile couples

Be a Vincentian in spirit – Help Haiti

In 2009, the international leadership of the Vincentian Family, which encompasses all those who find inspiration from the life and the legacy of St. Vincent de Paul, join Haitian microfinance institution Fonkoze to initiate a pilot project that would enable people worldwide to loan or donate to businesses in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the poorest on earth.

The Web site —  Zafen.org — was launched in 2010 to commemorate the lives and works of St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660) and St. Louise de Marillac (1591-1660), two individuals who dedicated their lives to serving people living in poverty . On the 350th anniversary of their deaths, Zaf?n was established with the objective of having a positive impact on Haiti’s economic, social and physical environment by providing micro, small and medium sized enterprises with enhanced access to capital.  Zaf?n strives to achieve this aim through:    Continue reading Be a Vincentian in spirit – Help Haiti
