FATHER EDMUND GUTOWSKI, C. M .
The many years of expectations have drawn to a close. This was perhaps one of the many thoughts of Father Edmund Gutowski, C. M., one of our parishioners on Ascension Thursday. Why? Because on that May 26 he had stepped out of the chapel at Mary Immaculate Seminary, Northampton, Pa., “a priest forever, according to the order of Melchisedech.” Yes, a day of joy and expectation not only for his family and friends but also for us parishioners who have come to know and await this same expectation – the ordination to Christ’s Holy Priesthood. And we should indeed be proud of this fact that another member of the parish has received the Holy Sacrament of Holy Orders. The worst floods to hit Poland in over a decade. Heavy rain has caused damage estimated at more than $2.5 billion over the last week, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people from their homes along the Vistula river, and in the south of Poland. Hundreds and hundreds of homes are flooded to the roof or ruined by the collapsing terrain. Continue reading Floods in Poland. Help needed.

|The repairs to the lightning rods on the tallest steeple of the the church have been completed. During the most recent electrical storms the lightning rods were so severely damaged that they needed to be replaced. This was a very dangerous and difficult job technically. Thank God that everything went well, and we are again protected from the possibility of this natural disaster. Unfortunately, the cost of this replacement was very expensive.
The total cost of the project cost over $20,000. Anyone interested in making a donation can do so at the rectory office. As always, thank you for your generosity for the good of the parish.
On April 5, 1970, Fr. Albin MALYSIAK CM (Vincentian ) received his Episcopal ordination from Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, Archbishop of Krakow, (later Pope John Paul II). Pope Paul VI nominated him a titular bishop of Beatia and auxiliary bishop of Krakow on January 14, 1970. For many years of his service he was Vicar General and supervised departments of religious orders, catechist and economic affairs in the Metropolitan Curia. By the Canon Law requirements he retired in February 1993 . Since 2007 he is the oldest living bishop in Polish Episcopate. In June he will turn 93. Congratulations Bishop Albin! The mass media, writes or speaks about priests, only when they discover in him a human weakness. And then, not only does the priest and his infractions get unreasonably publicized, but also the church and priesthood are unduly criticized as well. This is done because someone is not comfortable with priesthood as a result of his own battle with Christ. If someone cannot find fault with the Savior, they try to destroy the Church by emphasizing the human weakness of those who serve the Savior. During the past Year of the Priest, however, we bowed our heads before the Majestic Lord and thanked Him for the beautiful gift of Christ’s Priesthood given to ordinary people. In this gift bestowed upon His servants is included God’s Love of people, His caring for their souls and great strength. Thanks to this Strength, priests are able to dedicate their lives for the glory of God and for the salvation of the people. Here are some examples of this dedicated service: Continue reading Priesthood….

May God bless Fr. Albert in his ministry. Fr. Albert will celebrate his First Mass in our Parish on Sunday May 30th, at 3 PM.
Składamy serdeczne gratulacje Ojcu Albertowi Osewskiemu, CFR, franciszkaninowi, naszemu parafianinowi, który przyjął święcenia kapłańskie z rąk arcybiskupa Thimothy Dolan w sobotę 15 maja 2010 r. w katedrze Św. Patryka na Manhatanie. Zapewniamy go o naszym modlitewnym wsparciu w posłudze kapłańskiej. Ojciec Albert odprawi Mszę święta prymicyjną w niedzielę 30 maja o godzinie 15 w naszym kościele.
Last two Saturdays – May 8th and May 15th – were the days of celebration in our parish. 87 children, 3rd grade students from our school and our parish CCD program, received Jesus Christ, the Body and Blood of the Lord, in Holy Communion for the first time in their lives. We congratulate them and we offer our prayers for their intentions. First Communion is considered one of the holiest and most important celebrations in a Roman Catholic’s life. In order for anyone to receive communion, that person must be without sin and in a state of grace. Our children made their first confession, or the Sacrament of Penance, a few weeks before receiving their First Communion. Continue reading FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
Today, Good Shepherd Sunday, is a special day for everyone in our parish. We celebrate World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We ask that we may be filled with joy and the Holy Spirit as we carry on the mission of Jesus, our Good Shepherd. Let us pray for one another that we may be strengthened in our Christian vocations as married and single people, priests, deacons, and religious. May our youth listen to God’s call and be encouraged to respond generously.
Dzisiejszą niedzielę przeżywamy w Kościele jako Światowy Dzień Modlitw o Powołania. Rozpoczyna się też Tydzień Modlitw o Powołania. Ciągle musimy prosić Jezusa Chrystusa – Dobrego Pasterza, aby nigdy nie zabrakło nowych pracowników w Bożej Winnicy. Musimy modlić się o dobre i liczne powołania kapłańskie i zakonne, o ludzi gotowych pójść przemieniać serca innych, podjąć trudne zadania wobec współczesnego świata. Mając wśród siebie kapłanów, mamy dostęp do niewyczerpanych Bożych łask płynących z sakramentów świętych. Pamiętajmy, że tylko dzięki sercom i dłoniom kapłanów jest możliwe przedłużenie Chrystusowej zbawczej.
