Saturday, May 11, 2013 was a very special day for the children in 3rd Grade at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy, as well as the children enrolled in the St. Stanislaus Kostka CCD Program. All 30 children anxiously arrived to our church on time. This would be their first time to receive Jesus in Holy Communion. The church was beautifully decorated with white flowers at the altar and white bows lining the pews for where the children would sit. The names of all children were posted on the special banners which were placed on both sides of the sanctuary. Fr. Marek Sobczak CM was the celebrant for the Mass and Fr. Joseph Szpilski was the concelebrant. The children eagerly listened to Fr. Marek, responded loudly, and behaved reverently during the entire Mass. Just before the children received their First Holy Communion, they sang, “Into My Heart”. Just after receiving Holy Communion the children sang, “At the Table of Jesus”. Just before the Mass ended children expressed their gratefulness to the priests, to Sister Collette, to Mrs. Christina Cieloszczyk, the Principal of the Academy, to Mrs. Kimberly Petruzzo, their 3rd grade teacher. First Holy Communion Day was truly a wonderful day for these children. May they continue to stay close to Jesus now and forever.
One of the Catholic practices is the dedication of May as the month of the Blessed Virgin Mary. May crownings and other special events in May in honor of Mary, such as public recitation of the rosary and singing of the Loreto Litany are communal events. We can take the month of May as an opportunity to renew our own devotion to the Mother of God by dusting off our rosaries and adding a few more Marian prayers to our daily routine. Parents, in particular, should encourage Marian devotion in their children, since the non-Catholic Christians they encounter today often downplay (if not denigrate) the role that the Blessed Virgin played in our salvation through her fiat–her joyous "Yes" to the will of God.
In our parish, on this 1st day of this beautiful month of Mary, we began our month-long devotions in Honor of the Blessed Mother. On Sunday, May 5th, we had the ceremony of the crowning of the statue of the Blessed Mother by the BVM Sodality from St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy.

On Friday evening, October 19, 2012, the teachers and student body of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy presented their annual International Night in the school’s spacious auditorium. For a donation of $5.00, parents, relatives, friends and guests learned about many noteworthy historical and cultural events, structures and persons of countries around the globe, such as France, China, Colombia, Spain, Ireland, and the United States. They also enjoyed a spirited performance of song and dance, characteristic of other countries. Students researched their particular country from a variety of sources and compiled the information into a cohesive whole. In many instances, they wore native costumes, either original or home-made by teachers or parents. During the intermission in the rear of the auditorium, all had an opportunity to purchase coffee and cake, home-made in most cases, for the benefit of the Drama Club.
