Saturday, May 11, 2013 was a very special day for the children in 3rd Grade at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy, as well as the children enrolled in the St. Stanislaus Kostka CCD Program. All 30 children anxiously arrived to our church on time. This would be their first time to receive Jesus in Holy Communion. The church was beautifully decorated with white flowers at the altar and white bows lining the pews for where the children would sit. The names of all children were posted on the special banners which were placed on both sides of the sanctuary. Fr. Marek Sobczak CM was the celebrant for the Mass and Fr. Joseph Szpilski was the concelebrant. The children eagerly listened to Fr. Marek, responded loudly, and behaved reverently during the entire Mass. Just before the children received their First Holy Communion, they sang, “Into My Heart”. Just after receiving Holy Communion the children sang, “At the Table of Jesus”. Just before the Mass ended children expressed their gratefulness to the priests, to Sister Collette, to Mrs. Christina Cieloszczyk, the Principal of the Academy, to Mrs. Kimberly Petruzzo, their 3rd grade teacher. First Holy Communion Day was truly a wonderful day for these children. May they continue to stay close to Jesus now and forever.

A lovely tradition took place in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on the weekend of December 11-12, 2010. Thirty-five students from St. Stan’s Catholic Academy presented their annual Christmas Pageant at the three English Masses: 5:30 PM on Saturday and 9:00 and 11:00 AM on Sunday. Dressed in traditional First Christmas garb, children from grades 1-8 were shepherds, angels, kings, barn animals and the Holy Family. The Holy Infant was a wax figure crafted by Polish artisans in Warsaw during the First World War. The children’s choir sang traditional hymns in Polish and English, including “Silent Night,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Pojdzmy Wszyscy do Stajenki,” “The Friendly Beasts,” and “The Little Drummer Boy.” Continue reading St. Stan’s Catholic Academy Presents The Annual Christmas Pageant

On the second Sunday of Advent, just before the feast of St. Nicholas on December 6th, the children of our parish were visited by St. Nick. He was garbed in the vestments of a Bishop with a red cape and a mitre atop his head while in one hand he held his crozier and in the other a basket of sweets to surprise the children after the 9:00 AM English Mass and the 1:00 PM Polish Mass. The children appeared a little frightened at the sight, because they apparently did not always behave as they should, however, St. Nicholas was very charitable and praised them all.
