Palm Sunday

PalmSun2012 (8)Today is the sixth and last Sunday of Lent and beginning of Holy Week. This Sunday, called a Palm Sunday, is of the highest rank. In common law it fixes the commencement of Easter duty. The ceremonies of the day are the benediction of the palms, the procession (at some Masses) in remembrance of Christ’s triumphant entrance to Jerusalem and reading of the Passion. According to the Gospel – the Hebrew children spread their garments in the way and cried out saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord." During the procession, the clergy and the people, carrying the blessed palms, march around the church. Continue reading Palm Sunday
