The Christmas Pageant, a tradition in St. Stan’s Parish and school, took place on the weekend of December 17-18. Students from St. Stan’s Academy dressed the parts of all the major players in the story of Bethlehem, which included the Holy Family, shepherds, kings and angels. The little drummer boy made an appearance as well. The Children’s Choir, under the direction of Malgorzata Staniszewski and Halina Kalitka, sang traditional Christmas songs in Polish and English, such as "Silent Night," O Come All Ye Faithful," "Pojdzmy Wszyscy do Stajenki," "We Three Kings," and "O Little Town of Bethlehem." A non-traditional song included "The Friendly Beasts," a hymn about the lovely legend that barn animals magically can talk on Christmas night.
After the 9:00 AM Mass on Sunday, the children enjoyed a breakfast of bagels, cream cheese, mini-muffins and orange juice. The weather was a blessing from God, even though the temperatures dipped to 27 degrees on Sunday morning. As is the normal in St. Stan’s, parents aided in the success of this annual celebration; they dressed the children, helped prepare the breakfast and guided the students to and from church. Truly, the Christmas Pageant tradition touched all hearts who witnessed it. As Tiny Tim said, "God bless us everyone."
