Divine Mercy Sunday

On Sunday, May 1 at the 9:00am Family Mass, we celebrated special events in our parish and those that affected the world.  We prayed for the intention of the St. Aloysius Young Men’s Catholic Club in our parish, we honored the Beatification of Pope John Paul II and called him Blessed along with the rest of the world.  We celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday which was established by Pope John Paul II and we paid homage to Blessed Sister Faustina Kowalska for the holy life she led.  We honored our Lord Jesus Christ for his Divine Mercy and we paid special tribute to His Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary for her love for God and us.  The month of May is dedicated to our Blessed Mother.  Therefore, on this 1st day of this beautiful month of Mary, we began our month-long devotions.  The celebration began with the ceremony of the crowning of the statue of the Blessed Mother by the BVM Sodality from St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy

The girls, led by two altar servers, processed around the church to the statue standing on the altar.  Each girl placed a carnation in the vase standing before the statue with the last girl crowning the statue.  During the ceremony our children’s choir sang beautifully songs dedicated to the Blessed Mother including Immaculate Mary and Gentle Woman.  The ceremony was a very special way through which everyone at the Mass could begin honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus. We will continue our devotion to Mary each Monday at 6:30pm before the Mass and Novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.
