Saturday, May 10, 2014 was a very special day for the children in 3rd Grade at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy, as well as the children enrolled in the St. Stanislaus Kostka CCD Program. All 29 children anxiously arrived at school and then processed to church. This would be their first time to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.
The church was beautifully decorated with white flowers at the altar and white bows lining the pews for where the children would sit. A huge chalice and a white host decorated the sanctuary. Children actively participated in the Eucharist, reading the Scripture and petitions, bringing gifts to the altar and singing.
Fr. pastor Marek Sobczak, CM, was the celebrant of the Mass and the homilist. The children listened to Fr. Marek, responded loudly, and behaved reverently during the entire Mass. Just before the children received their First Holy Communion, they sang, “Into My Heart”. Just after receiving Holy Communion the children sang, “At the Table of Jesus”.
First Holy Communion Day was truly a wonderful day for these children. May they continue to stay close to Jesus now and forever.
Special Thank You to Sister Collette and Ms. Kimberly Petrizzo who worked with children during the school year in preparation for that special day.
