On Sunday, December 5, fifteen girls from grades 6-8 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy were accepted in a special ceremony into the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary. After the homily at the 9:00 A.M. Mass, the girls were called by name to approach the altar. Rev. Marek Sobczak, pastor, asked the girls the reason for their being at the altar, to which they replied that they wish to be received as members into the Sodality that honors the Blessed Mother in very special ways. In the name of the congregation present, Father Mark accepted their request, and after blessing Miraculous Medals, he draped them over the bowed heads of each girl. The girls returned to their seats and joined long-standing members in reciting the “Sodality Pledge.” The girls promised to say a decade of the rosary each day, attend the monthly prayer meetings, participate in service projects, be present for the annual Coronation of Our Lady in May, and imitate Mary in word and action to the best of their ability. The congregation applauded the girls for their decision to be a faithful Child of Mary.
On November 22, the girls were instrumental, together with the “Sharing Smiles Klub” in the school, to solicit and personally bring to Hour Children seven cartons and five bags of new toys for children whose mothers are in prison.
