Parish Picnic

The annual St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish Picnic in Greenpoint was held on Sunday, September 15, 2013. The morning of the big event started with the setting of the tables and blowing up balloons to make the event more festive as the aroma of delectable foods and brewed coffee filled the air. Although the picnic officially started at 12 noon, the first guests started to congregate considerably earlier. The closed street, the auditorium and the parking lot of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy began to fill-up as Sunday Masses concluded. Additionally, guests from neighborhoods – near and far –arrived specifically to attend this event. The closed section of Newel Street was lined with inflatable amusements and other playground fun for children, which included a mechanical bull. Nearby was a special table on which stood three large checkers, where a volunteer teacher patiently taught chess to our children. The variety of fun and delights for children included two artists painting kids faces with flowers, butterflies, and ladybugs. Children had the opportunity to take home inflatable balloons that a talented young man was able to turn into animals, swords, flowers as well as the crown he had on his head. Some children had abandoned the above amusements to partake in the lively music provided by DJ Peter of VoxPolonia in the auditorium. Continue reading Parish Picnic
