Polonia Honored

Polish American Heritage Month was celebrated at Brooklyn Borough Hall in the Old Brooklyn Courtroom on Thursday, November 4th.  The event was sponsored by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz who had nothing but praise for the Polish people and their accomplishments in Brooklyn and in America.   The ceremony was emceed by longtime Greenpoint resident Richard Mazur, Executive Director of the North Brooklyn Development Corporation.  Among those honored were many residents and entrepreneurs from our neighborhood:  Continue reading Polonia Honored

On Wednesday, August 25, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will welcome members of the Catholic community and other elected officials as Brooklyn Borough Hall is lit in blue and white on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mother Teresa. BP Markowitz announced in June that Borough Hall would be illuminated in the colors of Mother Teresa’s religious order after the owners of the Empire State Building stated a similar honor would not take place at New York City’s tallest building.   Continue reading BOROUGH HALL LIT IN BLUE AND WHITE
