On Monday, January 30, 2012, Bishop Frank Caggiano visited St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy as we began our annual celebration of Catholic Schools Week. He was accompanied by Sr. Kathleen Finnerty, the Associate Superintendent for Governance of the diocese. Fr. Marek Sobczak, our pastor, and Frank Carbone, the chairman of our Board of Directors, were also present.
The visit began with a tour of our school during which the bishop visited every classroom. He was very impressed with our students and how engaged they were in their lessons, their excitement at using the Smartboard during the lessons, the variety and quality of their work that was displayed in the halls, and their model behavior.

The Catholic Schools Week starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2012 is January 29 to February 5. There are 132,656 private and public schools in the United States, according to Department of Education statistics. Of those, 6,980 are Catholic elementary or secondary schools. What sets these Catholic schools apart from the pack? Three things, say educators, parents and community leaders: faith, academics and service. – Children are taught faith—not just the basics of Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God.
– Academics, which in Catholic schools are held to very high standards, help each child reach his or her potential.
– Service, the giving of one’s time and effort to help others, is taught both as an expression of faith and good citizenship. (from NCEA page)
