In the Bulletin of the Polish Province of the Congregation of the Mission we can find first photos of Fr. Jarek in Benin, Africa. He officially started his new mission apostolate in Biro on September 22, 2013. People who had hard time to pronounce his official first name gave him a new name – “Jaru”. In the photos he blesses a new tabernacle, new drums and blesses the people. In the first picture he is seen with Fr. Stanislaw Deszcz CM, also a Polish missionary to Benin. I will be leaving St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish. The reason for my departure is very clearly explained, without any sensational subtext. As a priest belonging to the Congregation of the Mission, I am embracing a new calling which is an invitation to join a missionary effort almost from its inception in Benin—Africa. As you all know, I am not going there as a „rookie”, but as an experienced missionary, because in many instances I shared with you my missionary experiences, I do not want to write about my attributes which have prepared me for this departure, so that I will not be compared by anyone to the lead character in the poem by Jan Brzechwa, „Self Praise”.
Often upon meeting parishioners, who find about my leaving, I hear lists of my accomplishments while I was among you. But I must say, this makes me feel a bit awkward, because I know, this litany would not be possible if God had not provided people who would join me in these parish undertakings. Firstly, I would like to thank the priests with Fr. Marek Sobczak as our leader in this battle for the good of God .
Congratulation Father Jarek!!! On Sunday, June 17, 2012 during a Mass of thanksgiving, Reverend Jaroslaw Lawrenz CM was celebrating his 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. Father Jarosław Lawrenz was born in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on July 24, 1962. For the first two years after his ordination on May 30, 1987, Fr. Jaroslaw was assigned to a parish in Słubice. Then he decided to go to continue his work as a missionary and with the blessing of his Provincial Superior he went through Belgium (one year of preparation) to Zaire. From Zaire he was sent to Haiti in 2000 where he worked among the local confreres and with the Vincentian seminarians. Another two years he spend in Sopot, Poland and came to the United States in 2006 joining the New England Province of the Congregation of the Mission.
