The 76th Pulaski Day Parade was held on Sunday, October 6th, 2013 on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. St. Stanislaus Kostka parish has been participating in the Pulaski Parade since the beginning, and so we had proudly marched this year also. Parishioners of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, Krakowianki i Gorale children song and dance ensemble, the St. Aloysius Young Men Catholic Club, St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Academy, Polish Supplementary School of Maria Konopnicka, St. Maksymilian Kolbe Pro-Life group, and other organizations from Greenpoint – like Angelus Choir and Polish National Home marched with us. Mr. Artur Dybanowski was the Grand Marshall of Greenpoint contingent this year. He marched with his wife and small daughter. He was accompanied by the Grand Marshall of the 2011 Parade, Mr. Dariusz Knapik, whose daughter, Victoria, was the Miss Polonia, Greenpoint. Local Assemblyman Mr. Joseph Lentol also joined us. It was a long but great day to be together with thousands of Poles, Polish-Americans and our American friends who marched to proudly celebrate our Polish heritage and wonderful culture. Photos are available in our Photo Gallery.
On Sunday, October 2nd, 2011, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Pulaski Day Parade celebration began at 9:00 AM with the Liturgy of the Eucharist. This grand Cathedral in Manhattan was filled with a holy silence despite being crowded with worshipers dressed in their Sunday finery. Grand Marshall Darek Knapik and his family were seated in the center of the first row. While on the other side of the aisle were the representatives of Polish Consulate with Mrs. Ewa Junczyk Ziomecka and the Parade Committee. Polish faithful of all ages waited serenely for the first sounds of the organ and the choir. Cadets of the West Point Military Academy lead the procession to the altar followed by the members of the Knights of Columbus, Sea League, Polish Scouts, lectors and lastly the celebrants of the Mass, which included the Very Reverend Marian Rojek, Auxiliary Bishop of Przemysl, Poland as well as the Rector of the Cathedral, Rev. Msgr. Robert T. Ritchie who presided at the concelebrated Mass.
In connection with the upcoming Pulaski Parade, we will be organizing a group of talented young musicians who will perform at the parade banquet. The banquet will be held in Manhattan on September 24 this year. The performance will be recorded by TV Polonia. If you would like your child to participate in this event, please contact Bozena Konkiel at 718-609-0088 or email@example.com
